Piha

Got a call from Pop last night saying he was coming down (a very welcome surprise as its been awhile since he's seen and spent time with his mokopuna)

It was such a nice day the three of us packed up and headed out to Piha.

Piha was well Piha, its typical "West Coast" with a good solid SW swell pushing thru.
Which was ideal if you like waves as the Corona Series surf competition was on.

Mana really wanted to try "surfing" (who was I to argue I’m all for it) and we set up our sun shade cover on the bank of a small stream just North of Lion Rock.

Mana loved it ands althought the water was a bit on the chilly side she paddled like a demon from one side to the other and after 5 laps across the stream she celebrated with a leap of joy.

The sun came out which was nice and the usual black sand was not quite its vindictive self (think of standing on a Barbecue......and then turning on the gas) so we didnt feel the need to break into the West coast beach hot foot dance"

All dried off we took a stroll down towards the big Corona bottle (I still dont get why you call it a "Gay" drink Nini?) at the southern end of Piha.
