The "Greenie" in me

With the raising price of petrol and food we like everyone are starting to feel the "pinch".
With limited success of growing food over the last few years (on a small-ish scale) we have decided to go BIGGER and go for"Global Domination".

Once the head scratch phase was over as to the placement in our mere 577sq section Mana and I turned the first few shovel fulls of our soon to be "Mass producing" veggie garden along with some H4 retaining timber it all started to take shape.

(The beer and sunset finished the day off quite nicely)

Kiwifruit Crumble

Finally today I get a day off.

Packed Mana off to school and then K and I shot out to the beach (Me of course for a surf and K for a relaxing read and a snooze in the car)
Surf was great and with no crowds (seems once the water temp drops below 17.5c it becomes a natural crowd thinner)
Picked up Mana from school and K made dinner which just happens to be my favourite "Tonkatsu" (deep fried crumbed pork and fresh veggies)
I asked K since I "acquired" some Zespri Gold Kiwifruit maybe I should "whip" up a Kiwifruit crumble.
Despite the sideways looks I got from K and I could see the (and tell) what she was thinking "So you want to mess up "MY" kitchen and then expect ME to clean up afterwards don't you?
Ummm answer being "Yes"
Both were pretty impressed with my effort in the kitchen and with a bit (OK so a lot) of freshly whipped cream it was a true "YUMMY" dinner.
As I said the whole cooking thing went really well.....the aftermath was a totally different story (so we wont mention that shhhhhh)

Things to smile at....

The last 2 months have been pretty hectic, its been long days with 4 nights away every week. Now I'm finally getting a chance to "catch up" with the whanau.

We woke up this morning with a extra (hadaka) "lump" snoozing next to us I have to say it has gotta be right up there with "those little things in life" that make you smile (along with her singing "Good morning Mummy,Good morning Daddy")
Mana said softly "I love you Daddy and I missed you while you away......" I was geez I got something in my eye sort of thing.
But as she hurls herself (think of WWF without the lycra) at you for the power cuddle soon "turns that frown upside down"
All this confirms what I already know....I love my whanau and I love life!
